Washington, D.C. - Despite seeing double-digit point totals from three starters on Wednesday evening, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team suffered its sixth straight defeat, 86-64 to the University of the District of Columbia at the Dr. Edwin Bancroft Henderson Sports Complex in our Nation's Capital.
STAC falls to 4-18 overall and 2-10 in ECC play, while UDC moves to 8-13 and 6-6.
Syrita Faraj posted a team-high 20 points for the maroon and gold, while teammates Karolina Jaruseviciute (16 points) and Trinity Cheatom (11 points) also scored in double figures. Nia Ford led all scorers with 22 points for the host Firebirds.
St. Thomas Aquinas shot just 31.7 percent from the field (20-63), while UDC shot 43.1 percent (28-65) from the floor.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Ten Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Delaney Finnegan led the maroon and gold with three assists on the evening.
- Syrita Faraj hit 6 of her 15 field goal attempts, while Karolina Jaruseviciute went 7-for-18 from the floor and 2-of-4 from the foul line.
- District of Columbia out-rebounded STAC by 52-40 margin, with Faraj also grabbing a game-high 12 boards for the Spartans.
- St. Thomas Aquinas forced six steals, with the Firebirds turning the ball over on 16 separate occasions.
- The game featured two ties and no lead changes.
- District of Columbia led STAC 46-36 at the half, as the Spartans shot 38.2 percent (13-34) from the field.
- Syrita Faraj led all scorers with 18 first half points for the maroon and gold, while shooting 46.2 percent (6-for-13) from the field and 50.0 percent (2-of-4) from long range.
- STAC's best shooting quarter came in the second stanza, with the Spartans shooting 53.3 percent (8-15) from the field.
UDC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

- Nia Ford led District of Columbia with 22 points. Teammates Laci Johnson (14 points) and Tori Williams (11 points) also scored in double figures.
- Nhaikyia Smith led District of Columbia with six assists on the night.
- Ford went 7-for-12 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the foul line, with Johnson hitting 5 of her 13 field goal attempts.
- Nhaikyia Smith also grabbed a team-high 10 boards for the Firebirds.
- District of Columbia picked up nine steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on 21 separate occasions.
- District of Columbia earned advantages in five team statistical categories over St. Thomas Aquinas: Points off Turnovers (24-12), Second Chance Points (22-7), Points in the Paint (34-32), Fastbreak Points (15-2) and Bench Points (33-15).
- Laci Johnson led all Firebirds scorers at the half with 12 points, on 4-of-9 (44.4 percent) shooting from the field, with 3-of-7 (43.0 percent) hitting net from distance.
- UDC's best shooting quarter came in the opening frame, with the Firebirds shooting 50.0 percent from both the field (8-16) and three-point (4-8).
