St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball player Sarah Ericson was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans split of home contests against Mercy College (W, 71-64) and Molloy College (L/OT, 73-69) last week. This is Ericson's third Rookie of the Week selection in the last four weeks.
Ericson averaged 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in two contests for the Spartans, while shooting 50.0 percent from the field (12-for-24), 46.2 percent from three-point (6-for-13) and 85.7 percent from the foul line (6-for-7).
The freshman guard from Norwich, Conn. posted 12 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes of action against Mercy and followed it up with a 24-point, 10 rebound, six assist performance against Molloy in 44 minutes on the hardwood.
The Spartans get the opportunity for immediate redemption, only this time on the road, as they face Molloy College on Wednesday night (February 9) at Quealy Gymnasium. Opening tip is set for 5:00 p.m. in Rockville Centre.
