Selection Sunday: Women's Hoops takes #5 Seed into NCAA Battle vs. #4 LeMoyne in First Round (Friday, 7:30)

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball team takes the #5 seed into the the East Region of the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament, setting the stage for a first round battle against #4 LeMoyne College. The East Regional will be hosted by top seeded University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA, with STAC and LeMoyne playing the final game of day one on Friday, March 15, at 7:30 pm.


St. Thomas Aquinas captured the East Coast Conference regular-season title and with a 26-4 overall record, the have earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tourney. The Spartans posted a 17-1 record in conference play, and are making their second straight NCAA Tourney appearance, winning last year's first round contest against Caldwell University.

The winner of that first round game will advance to meet the winner of the #1 University of the Sciences battle with ECC Tournament champs and #8 seed NYIT.

No. 6 seed – Stonehill College (19-9, 14-2 ECC)… NE10 Northeast Division Runners-up (at large bid)
No. 7 seed – St. Anselm College (19-9, 13-8 CACC)… NE10 Northeast Division 3rd Place (at large bid)
No. 8 seed – New York Institute of Technology (23-8, 12-6 ECC)… ECC Tournament Champions (automatic bid)
