The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball team was well represented in this season's East Coast Conference post-season awards. The defending ECC Tournament Champions and 2019 Regular-Season Champions carry the top seed into the ECC Tournament semi-finals, where they will face LIU Post at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 9. STAC was recognized with the head coach and a pair of players earning post-season kudos.
Kim Lusk - East Coast Conference Coach of the Year - Coach Lusk earns her second ECC COTY honors, having previously earned that distinction along with All-Met COTY honors for the Spartans' outstanding 2011 season. In her 11th season at the helm, Lusk has guided her team to a 189-129 overall record, having secured the program's fourth-straight winning campaign. While it was hard to top last year's 27-5 overall mark, and 16-2 in conference action, Coach Lusk's squad enters this post-season with that 26-3 record, and a near-perfect 17-1 league mark.
Emily Preston - First Team All-Conference - A solid candidate for Rookie of the Year a season ago, Preston was one of the cornerstones of STAC's stellar regular-season run. Not only did the 6-2 sophomore from Brisbane, Australia, spark the team with 10.9 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game, but she is also 7th in the ECC in assists (3.7 per game) and 8th in assist/turnover ratio. One of just two Spartans to start all 29 games this season, she has missed just one of her team's 61 games to date over her first two seasons.
Ruth Adams - Second Team All-Conference -After losing all of last season to injury, Adams returned to the lineup with a vengeance in 2018-19. Though she started just 11 of the Spartans' 29 games, the 5-8 native of San Diego, California, was a force at all times, leading the team with 11.1 points per game. Her season - and possibly career - highlight came in STAC's victory over LIU Post on January 12, as her head-fake, running floater at the buzzer propelled her team to a thrilling 66-64 victory.
