St. Thomas Aquinas College's Gavin Kopf was named the East Coast Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday following the Spartans season-opening events at the 12th Rock Throws series, FastTrack Season Opener and the 2025 College of New Jersey Indoor Open.

Kopf (Congers, N.Y.) opened his 2025-26 campaign with seven top-10 finishes, including two wins. The STAC junior thrower won the discus with a hurl of 41.46m (135' 0”), placed second in the shot put with a throw of 14.43m (47' 4.25”), and finished seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.52m (139' 6”) at the 12th Rock Throws Series. The STAC junior followed it up with spectacular performances on back-to-back days. First, Kopf placed sixth in the weight throw (15.36m/50' 4.75") and ninth in the shot put (13.65m/44' 9.5") at the FastTrack Season Opener before winning the weight throw (16.37m/53' 8.5") and finishing third in the shot put (14.09m/46' 2.75") at the TCNJ Winter Open. His weight throw mark (16.37m) and shot put mark (14.09m) from the TCNJ Winter Open both sit second in the ECC and top 10 in the NCAA East Region. 

STAC will close out its 2025 Fall Semester schedule at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout on Friday, December 12. Events begin at 12:00 p.m. inside of the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
