Preview: Emmanuel Mena Jimenez Ready For NCAA D2 Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

Sparkill, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Track & Field standout Emmanuel Mena Jimenez has arrived in The Centennial State, Colorado, with aspirations of capturing both his and the program's first NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field title. The national championships get underway Thursday, May 22 at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl in Pueblo, Colorado and will conclude on Saturday, May 24.

Mena Jimenez (Gr./West Haverstraw, N.Y.) will be making his fifth appearance at a Division II National Championship, having competed in both the indoor (2024 & 2025) and outdoor championship meets (2023, 2024 & 2025) in his collegiate career.

In his third straight outdoor championship, Manny will battle D2's best in both the Hammer Throw and Discus competitions, where he finished the regular season with tosses ranked seventh (63.63m/208'9") and eleventh (55.63m/182'6") in the country respectively. Mena Jimenez won the Hammer and placed second in the Discus at the East Coast Conference Championships and hit his first provisional marks back in late March at the Ramapo College Track & Field Invitational.

Manny will be in action on Thursday, May 22 at 5:30 p.m. EDT for the Hammer Throw and Friday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. EDT for the Discus. You can watch all of the action LIVE on NCAA.com.

Mena Jimenez's regular season awards and honors were numerous, as he was named USTFCCCA All-East Region and East Coast Conference All-Conference selections. He also earned ECC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week accolades on three occasions (April 1, 15 & 22).

During the 2024-25 Spring Outdoor Season, Manny led the way for the Spartans, placing Second at the Ramapo Track & Field Invitational (58.50m), First at the Misericordia Twilight 2025 (61.76m), First at the 2025 TCNJ Invitational (62.75m), First at the ESU All-American Meet (63.63m), Thirteenth at Penn Relays (59.43m) and First at the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships (63.03m) in six Hammer Throw events. 

In addition, Mena Jimenez took First at the Ramapo Track & Field Invitational (53.80m), First at the 2025 TCNJ Invitational (51.94m), First at the ESU All-American Meet (55.63m), Second at Penn Relays (51.60m) and Second at the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships (51.26m) in five Discus events.
