After a two week break, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field team got back to work on Saturday at the Rider Invitational. The Spartans competed against some of the top Division I and Division II colleges in the East Region, and had several great performances.

Rickssen Opont won the Shot Put with a throw of 16.69m (54'9.25) and also took 4th in the Discus and 8th in the Shot Put. St. Jacob Diodonet won the 400 meters in a blistering time of 47.78, which was his second fastest time this year. He also helped the 4x100 team of Dante Brown, Josh Mallard and Jarret Millien take 2nd overall in the meet. Dante Brown won the 100 meters with a time of 11.00 and then took 2nd in the Long Jump with a leap of 7.06m (23'2).
On the women's side Rebecca MacLeod ran 4:55.81 in the 1500 and then came back to run 2:19.76 to take 8th overall in the meet. Christina Maretzo ran 2:22.98 to take 10th overall in the 800. Duenya Alan also took 8th overall in the Triple Jump with a leap of 10.66m (34'11.75).
St. Thomas Aquinas next competes at the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships next Saturday, April 20. The meet will be hosted at Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, NY.
