Following the winter break hiatus, the Spartan Track & Field team returned to action on Friday at the Villanova Open. There were several outstanding performances on both teams, highlighted by Winslow Dorsainvil and Saint-Jacob Diodonet.
The Men's team started out the day Dorsainvil finishing as the top collegiate runner (2nd in the meet) in the 60 with a time of 6.88. Not to be outdone was freshman Diodonet who placed 4th overall in the competition but 3rd overall among collegiate. Saint then finished second overall in the 200 (1st among collegiates) in a time of 21.80 which is a new Spartan record in the indoor 200. Tristan Holmgren also broke his own school record by jumping 2.03 meters (6'8) and finishing 2nd in the competition.
On the women's side Meaghan Ventarola finished 4th overall in the Mile with a new personal best in with a time of 5:14.14. Gabby Sloezen took 7th overall in the 800 with a time of 2:20.08.
The Spartan's will be hosting it first meet next Friday starting at 3:30 with Field Events and 3:45 with the running events at the Ocean Breeze Facility in Staten Island.
