Women Take 4th at Rider Invitational, Track Times Drop

The Spartans women's track & field team finished 4th at the Rider Invite against 14 Division I,II, III and Junior Colleges.  Gabriela Sloezen broke the school record in the 800 meters, marking the 3rd record shattered this weekend by the women's team.  Sloezen set the new 800 mark at 2:17.25, finishing second in the event.  On Friday night, Meaghan Ventarola and Kristen Borriello broke the school records in the 3000m Steeplechase and the 1500.  They are ranked #1and #2 in the region in their respective events.  

On Sunday, a few personal record were added to these top Spartan performances.   Borriello finished 3rd in the event clocking in at her season best in the 800 with a time of 2:19.83.  Patricia Nersten finished 6th in the 800 with a time of 2:23.74.  In the 1500, Meaghan Ventarola took 3rd with a time of 4:55.99.  Cecelia Pfleging won the 3000 Steeplechase in a time of 12:17.84.  Breanna Lyn took 5th in the Triple Jump and hit a new personal best by jumping 10.61m (34'9.75).  Katherine Mollahan took 4th place in the Shot Put by throwing a new season best of 11.10m (36'5).

On the men's side Winslow Dorsainvil won the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.21.  Saint-Jacob Diodonet won the 400 in a time of 49.25.  Tristan Holmgren took 4th in the High Jump with a jump of 1.89m (6'2.25).  Justin Brown finished 8th in the triple jump with a jump of 12.93m (42'5.25).
The Track & Field team will compete two weeks at the East Coast Conference meet hosted by Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester, NY.  Some of the Spartans and Lady Spartans will also be competing this Saturday at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravia College.
