The St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed at the ECC Championships at Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday. Both teams finished in 4th place and had many 1st team and 2nd team all-conference members.
The Spartans were lead by great performance by Winslow Dorsainvil and Dylan Bestler. Dorsainvil started his day off with taking a 1st place finish in the 4x100, with teammates Travis Volpe, Ricardo Reid, and Lloyd Smalling, as they ran 43.06 to take the win. Dorsainvil then came back to win the 100 meters in a prelims time of 10.68 and a finals time of 10.52 (new school record) and then won the 200 in a time of 21.94 (a new personal record). Bestler, freshman from Mineola, was another individual winner where he took 1st place in the 400 intermediate hurdles in a time of 59.09. In the open 400 Reid took 4th place in a time of 51.83. Tristan Holmgren, coming off injury, took 2nd place in the High Jump with a 1.83m jump. Jamer Linares took a 4th place finish in the 10,000 meters with a time of 36:17.02.
On the Women's side Kristen Borriello and Katie O'Grady were both individual winners for the Lady Spartan's at the ECC Championships. O'Grady started off the day by winning the 10,000 meters in a time of 41:40.87. K. Borriello, a freshman from Montgomery, took 1st place in the 1500 with a very competitive field in a time of 4:52.01. Gina Funaro took 2nd place in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:12.89. Gabby Sloezen took a 3rd place finish in the 400 with a time of 60.11 as well as finishing in 6th place in the 200 with a time of 25.89 (new school record). Allison Borriello took a 4th place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:25.73. Meaghan Ventarola finished in 2nd place in the Steeplechase where she ran 12:16.48 and Cecelia Pfleging took 3rd place in the same event in 12:28.19. The 4x800 team of Ventarola, Patricia Nersten, K. Borriello, and A. Borriello took 2nd place in a time of 10:06.79. Kelsey Barnes took 3rd place in the Discus with a throw of 29.34 meters and finished 5th in the shot put with a throw 10.09 meters.

While the outdoor season has come to an end for many of the Spartan runners, a select group will compete in the upcomng week at Penn Relays.
