The St. Thomas Aquinas Track & Field teams competed on Friday at the Oscar Moore Invite at Rowan University. The Lady Spartans finished in 2nd place out of 10 with freshman Kristen Borriello leading the way. She broke the school record in the 1500 in a time of 4:55.39 and took 1st place in the event.
Allison Borriello took 1st place in the 800 with a time of 2:24.87. Junior Gabby Sloezen finished in 6th overall in the 400 with a time of 1:01.27. Sophomore Tiana Kirkland took 8th in the 100 with a prelims time of 12.99, breaking the school record, and finished the final in a time of 13.11. The 4x100 team of Kaitlyn Mancini, Gabby Sloezen, Laura Gerraputa, and Tiana Kirkland broke the school record in a time of 50.47 taking 2nd overall in the event. On the field event side Samantha Gabriel took 2nd place in the long jump with a jump of 4.53m and Laura Gerraputa took 5th in the same event with a jump of 4.16. In the triple jump Samantha Gabriel took 2nd and Breanna Lyn took 3rd with jumps of 10.16 and 9.94 meters.
On the Men's side, sophomore Winslow Dorsainvil ran 10.82 and 10.98 to win the 100 meters. Dorsainvil also took 5th in the 200 with a time of 22.84. Freshman Lloyd Smalling took 8th in the 100 with times of 11.21 and 11.51. Classmate Dyaln Bestler took 3rd place in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:00.45. Freshman Henry Romero took 8th in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.11 meters breaking the outdoor school record. The 4x100 team of Ricardo Reid, Lloyd Smalling, Mohammed Ifthikar and Winslow Dorsainvil took 2nd place with a time of 44.12.
The Spartans have little rest leading into their next meet at Ramapo College on Saturday.
