The Spartans went on the road to begin the Outdoor Track & Field season in a warmer climate in Richmond, Virginia at the Virginia Commonwealth University Invitational. The change in temperature brought some good times for the Spartans. Winslow Dorsainvil kept his momentum up from nationals in breaking 2013 graduate Mike Abelard's school record in the 100 by running a time of 10.88 which took 4th overall in the meet.
The 4x800 team of Garvenchy Nicolas, Joe Chegwidden, Matt Buell and George Erazo took a 1st place finish in the meet with a time of 8:03.72. Other notable performances were done by Mike Galonski who took 2nd in the Steeplechase with a time of 9:49.85 a new personal best.
On the Women's side Allison Borriello took 7th overall in the 1500 with a time of 5:01.60. Gabriela Sloezen finished in 7th overall as well with a time of 2:23.88. Katie O'Grady finished in 8th Overall in the 5000 with a time of 20:22.60. Samantha Gabriel in her first competition of the season jumped 10.23 in the triple jump which finished 8th overall in the meet.
The men finished 9th overall in the meet and the women finished in 10th place. The Spartans and Lady Spartans will be back in action on Saturday, March 29 at the Ramapo Northeast Challenge.
