Seniors Excel at ECC Championships

For the senior class for the Spartans this was the final year for them to compete in the ECC Championships.  Although the ECC Track and Field Championships has been in existence for only the past two seasons,  many of them have already taken home All-Conference Awards.  Their final championship proved to be he same.

George Erazo took 1st in the 400 meter dash (49.99) and 1st in the 400 Intermediate Hurdles with a new school record in a time of 56.58.  George was still not done he took 4th in the 100 (11.65) and 3rd in the 200 (23.11).  George scored 30 points for the Spartans.   Garvenchy Nicolas took 4th in the 1500 with a new school record time in 4:04.48 and took 3rd in the 800 with a time of 1:57.02.  Garvenchy Nicolas also anchored the 1st place 4x800 team of himself, Matt Buell, Joe Chegwidden and Mike Kraus.  Matt Buell and Mike Kraus both ended there career in successful fashion with taking 5th and 6th in the 800 open.  Mike Galonski took 3rd in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:55.94 and ran 15:59.61 in the 5000 to take 4th.  

Keeley Bateman ran 4:56.54 to better her school record in the 1500 and lead off the 4x800 team that took 2nd in the Conference meet.  Allison Borriello took 2nd in the 800 with a time of 2:17.51 and also took 2nd in the 4x400 with her team of Gabby Sloezen, Catherine Sandkuhl, and Gina Funaro.

From going to the seniors to the freshman, Winslow Dorsainvil took 1st place in the 100 and 200 as well as anchoring the team of Anthony Henry, Travis Abelard and Frankie Colon to a 1st place finish in the 4x100.  Sammy Abdallatif took 4th place in the 400 to earn all conference honors as well.  Tristan Holmgren won the High jump in a jump of 1.83 meters and Ed Oswald took 4th in the event.  
On the Women's side Meghan Ventarola won the 3000 steeplechase in 11:19.01 to take 1st and to better her school record time.  Gabby Sloezen took 3rd in the 400 and also hit a new school record time for the 400 in a time of 59.08. Samantha Gabriel took 3rd in the triple jump.  Meagan Jaskot and Katie O'Grady took 5th and 6th in the 5000 meters.  Cecelia Pfleging took 3rd in the steeplechase to also earn 2nd team all conference.
Spartans next compete at Penn Relays on Thursday and Friday this week.
