The St. Thomas Aquinas Track & Field traveled to Ramapo College on Saturday for the Roadrunner Invitational. Anchored by George Erazo, the 4x100 team of Rich Ricca, Mike Abelard and Frankie Colon set a new school record with a time of 42.78.
Erazo also took 2nd in the 400m in a time of 48.95
and 6th in the 200m with a time of 22.74.
Abelard ran the 100 meters and took 4th overall in a time of
11.01. Ed Oswald finished with a High Jump of 1.70
8th overall in the meet. He also ran for the
1st time the 400 Intermediate Hurdles and ran a time of
1:02.58 which took 14th overall. Mike Galonski ran
a new personal best in the 5000 in a time of 15:43.24 taking 5th
overall. Frankie Colon had a nice day at the roadrunner meet
as well hitting new Personal Bests in the 100 (11.66) and in the
200 (23.23). The Men’s Track and Field team ended up
finishing in 9th place overall out of over 21 teams
competing.
On the women's side Keeley Bateman and Meagan Jaskot both ran very
impressive times in the 1500. Keeley ran 5:00.45 to take
9th overall in the Ramapo Roadrunner meet and Meagan ran
5:00.75 to take 10th overall. Gabriela Sloezen
took 4th overall in the 400 with a time of 61.45. The Women's 4x400
team of Gabriela Sloezen, Gina Funaro, Caroline Bjorkman and
Catherine Sandkuhl took 7th overall in the event with a time of
4:24.33. The Women finished 14th overall out of 22 schools.
The Spartans next compete at the Rider Invitational on 4/13/13 in Lawrenceville, NJ.
