Spartans Have Success at Great Dane Classic

Freshman George Erazo ran a personal best in his indoor career running a 49.02 which put him in 3rd place for the meet and also his time got him the 12th ranked time in the country for Division II. 

Erazo is .17 from the provisional qualifying time for nationals which is 48.85.  The rookie also ran a personal best in the 200 which was 22.96.  Sophomore Mike Abelard returned to action this week after having a minor quad injusy and finished 6th overall in the 200 meters in 22.28.  Abelard is still ranked 14th in the country in Division II at this time.  The men's team finished 18th overall in the meet of more than 30 schools to compete.

For the Lady Spartans, freshman Keeley Bateman ran a time of 3:09.91 which placed her 11th overall in a stacked field of runners.  Sarah Callagy ran a personal best of 10:57.65 which placed her 16th overall.  Both Bateman and Callagy set new school records in their respective events; Bateman for the 1000m run, and Callagy for the 3000m run.

The Spartans are currently ranked 70th in the Nation in Division II.
