Matthew Barry is the head coach of the St. Thomas Aquinas Sprint Football Team. He brings over thirty years of coaching experience to St. Thomas Aquinas College. Most recently, he coached the Albertus Magnus High School Varsity football team and lacrosse team. Prior to that, Barry coached Clarkstown High School South and Clarkstown High School North in football, lacrosse and basketball. In addition to varsity level teams, he’s instructed CYO, Pop Warner and Little League teams.
Barry recently retired from the Clarkstown Police Department after 32 years. He was one of the first School Resource Officers introduced in Rockland County. He started his career in the NYPD as a housing authority police officer and played for the NYPD Football Team. He’s been a community leader for his adult life, serving as a role model for Clarkstown’s youth. He started Clarkstown’s Youth Police Academy to educate youths on a possible career in law enforcement.
