The St. Thomas Aquinas Softball team dropped its ECC opening series at Mercy College 8-7 and 8-0.  Samantha McDonald had 4 hits, 2 RBI a run scored and a stolen base for the Lady Spartans while Katie Meyers went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

In game 1, the Lady Spartans racked up 10 hits.  Colleen Pagnani went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.  Lauren Navarro added 1 hit and 1 RBI and Nikolette Nevola contributed with 1 RBI and a scored run.  Powers pitched 6.1 innings striking out 2 and giving up 5 hits.  She had 1 hit and scored a run.  Kimberly Nowak took the loss for the Lady Spartans on the mound.  McDonald had the only hit for the STAC in the second game of the afternoon. 

The Lady Spartans return to action on Thursday as they travel to Bridgeport University for a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.
