St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball players Santiago Valenca, Ivaylo Todorov, Marcus Franck and Luis Grath were each selected for the East Coast Conference's weekly awards on Monday, following the Spartans 1-1 week on the court against Sacred Heart University (W, 3-0) and Merrimack College (L, 3-0).
Valenca was tabbed as the ECC Player of the Week, while Todorov took home Defensive Player of the Week, Franck Setter of the Week and Grath Rookie of the Week.
Valenca (Lisbon, Portugal) recorded 23 kills, a serve assist, eight digs and two block assists over two home matches in six total sets against Sacred Heart and Merrimack. The STAC sophomore outside/opposite hitter also held a .341 hitting percentage in that span.
Todorov (Aktau, Kazakhstan) picked up 10 digs and four serve assists over six total sets in two matches against the Pioneers and Warriors last week.
Franck (Congonhas, Brazil) totaled one kill, 64 assists (10.67 assists per set), and 11 digs over two home matches in six total sets against Sacred Heart and Merrimack.
Grath (Bruehl, Germany) racked up 15 kills, a service ace, five digs, a solo block and four block assists over two matches in six total sets against the Pioneers and Warriors last week. The STAC freshman middle blocker also held a .591 hitting percentage in that span.
STAC (5-10) hits the road for its next two matches, first stopping in Cambridge, Massachusetts for non-conference tilt with Harvard University on Saturday, March 7 (5:00 p.m.).
