St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball players Kyran Versteegen, Bas van Deventer and Marcus Franck were each selected for the East Coast Conference's weekly awards on Monday, following the Spartans pair of straight sets home victories over Roberts Wesleyan University and American International College last weekend.
Versteegen was tabbed as the ECC Player of the Week, while van Deventer took home Defensive Player of the Week and Franck scored Setter of the Week honors.
Versteegen (Sittard, Netherlands) recorded 34 kills, two serve assists, four service aces, a digs, a solo block and two block assists over two matches in six total sets against the Redhawks and Yellow Jackets. The STAC junior outside hitter also held a .393 hitting percentage in that span.
van Deventer (Bierbeek, Belgium) recorded a set assist and ten digs over six total sets in matches against Roberts Wesleyan and AIC. The ten digs for the freshman libero were a match-high for Bas in his first full contest of the season versus the Yellow Jackets.
Franck (Congonhas, Brazil) totaled a kill, 52 assists (8.67 assists per set), seven digs and a block assist over two home matches in six total sets against Roberts Wesleyan and AIC last weekend.
STAC (8-11, 2-0 ECC) visits American International College on Saturday, March 21 for a 1:00 p.m. match at Henry A. Butova Gymnasium in Springfield, Massachusetts.
