St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball player Gabriel Vieira was named both the East Coast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans split of matches with Sacred Heart University (L, 3-1) and Russell Sage College (W, 3-0) last week.

Vieira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) recorded a .440 hitting percentage over two matches last week, including a .533 average in a 3-0 victory over Russell Sage. The St. Thomas Aquinas freshman outside/opposite hitter totaled 27 kills and seven digs across seven sets and ranks second in the ECC (27th nationally) in attacks per set, with 7.26. 

STAC (1-7 overall, 0-0 ECC) next heads to Western New York for a pair of weekend matches with Daemen University (February 9/6:00 p.m.) and D'Youville University (February 10/1:00 p.m.).
