Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team extended their current winning streak to eight matches on Monday afternoon with a 7-0 Senior Day blanking of Yeshiva University at the Riley Family Tennis Courts.
STAC improves to 14-3 on the season, while Yeshiva falls to 5-6.
Prior to the contest, the Spartans honored their graduating senior class; Alberto Espinosa Navarro, Don Vinz Lominoque, Lorenzo Meschini and Ondrej Sramek with on-court ceremonies, which included the athletes' friends, teammates, coaches and college administrators.
Doubles
STAC took the early momentum by winning all three doubles matches to claim the team point. The first result came at No. 3 doubles, where Ondrej Sramek & Erik Victor Tauson beat josh Zahavi & Jimmy Li, 6-0. The Spartans followed with another win at No. 2 doubles, as Don Vinz Lominoque & Nagamitsu Kuroda downed Jacob Feit & Elan Goldstein, 6-0. The final doubles match to finish came at No. 1, where Theo Renoux & Henry Ronnberg bested Israel Bussu & Aidan Stephen, 6-0.
Singles
Singles play saw the maroon and gold take all six bouts to win the match. No. 4 Nagamitsu Kuroda won his contest against Ethan Rolnick 6-0, 6-0, followed by No. 3 Ondrej Sramek besting Aidan Stephen 6-1, 6-0 and No. 2 Henry Ronnberg beating Israel Bussu in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. No. 1 Don Vinz Lominoque downed Jacob Feit 6-1, 6-2, with No. 5 Nathan Yacar defeating Elan Goldstein 6-0, 6-0 and finally No. 6 Alberto Espinosa Navarro dispatching Josh Zahavi 6-0, 6-0 to end the day's events.
