Sparkill, N.Y. - Under clearing skies and warm temperatures in the Lower Hudson Valley, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team recorded their fourth straight victory via shutout, with a 7-0 triumph over Manhattanville University on Tuesday afternoon.
STAC improves to 10-3 on the season, while Manhattanville falls to 4-6.
Doubles
STAC took the early momentum by winning all three doubles matches to claim the team point. The first result came at No. 3 doubles, where Henry Ronnberg & Alberto Espinosa Navarro blanked Sami Badre-Hume & Nicholas Gervasi, 6-0. The Spartans followed with another win at No. 1 doubles, as Don Vinz Lominoque & Nagamitsu Kuroda beat Kazuma Kato & Elouan Charretteur, 6-1. The final doubles match to finish came at No. 2, where Ondrej Sramek & Erik Victor Tauson bested Thomas Jouanneau & Derwin Guzman, 6-1.
Singles
Singles play saw the maroon and gold take all six bouts to win the match. No. 4 Nagamitsu Kuroda won his contest against Derwin Guzman 6-2, 6-0, followed by No. 3 Don Vinz Lominoque besting Elouan Charretteur 6-2, 6-2 and No. 1 Lorenzo Meschini beating Kazuma Kato in a three-set tiebreaker 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. No. 2 Theo Renoux downed Thomas Jouanneau 6-2, 7-6 (3), with No. 5 Nathan Yacar defeating Nicholas Gervasi 6-0, 6-1 and finally No. 6 Alberto Espinosa Navarro dispatching Sami Badre-Hume 6-1, 6-1 to close out the day's events.
