St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis athlete Henry Ronnberg has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday, following the Spartans 2-1 week on the courts, with victories over Yeshiva and NYU. Henry shares this week's honor with UDC's Ambrose Evamy.
Ronnberg went 6-0 on the week (3-0 Doubles, 3-0 Singles) in matches with Yeshiva, NYU and Queens. Against the Maccabees, Henry won at No. 1 doubles with his partner Theo Renoux 6-0 and was victorious in his No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0. Then, the junior from Sweden took his No. 2 doubles match against the Violets with Renoux 6-4 and his No. 4 singles matchup 6-0, 7-5. Finally, Ronnberg won his No. 1 doubles match with Renoux 7-5 before clinching his No. 4 singles bout 6-3, 6-3 against the Knights.
No. 2 seeded STAC (16-4, 5-1 ECC) opens the ECC Men's Tennis Tournament on Friday, April 25 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center against No. 3 seed University of the District of Columbia in semifinal action in Flushing, New York. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
