Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Georgian Court University on Wednesday afternoon at Spartan Field.
STAC moves to 1-1-1 on the year, while Georgian Court goes to 0-1-1.
The Spartans received first half scoring from Jorge De La Vibora, while goalkeeper Dante Muntane (T, 1-1-1) got his third straight start for the maroon and gold and made one save on two shots faced.
Meanwhile, Gijs van Eif tallied a goal for the Lions, as keeper Sotirios Gkosdis (T, 0-0-1) turned aside 9 of 10 shots sent his way.
HOW IT HAPPENED
9th Minute: A skyed ball by goalie Sotirios Gkosdis found a breaking Gijs van Eif, who slipped by the Spartans defense and headed the feed past Dante Muntane to give the Lions an early 1-0 advantage.
22nd Minute: STAC knotted the score at 1-1 on a Jorge De La Vibora rebound shot, following an initial boot by teammate Kevon Evans, which was partially blocked by the GCU defense off of a throw-in by Joaquim Cardoso.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- St. Thomas Aquinas outshot Georgian Court, 20-8 with the Spartans putting the ball on frame 10 times and the Lions reaching the goal twice.
