The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team has been ranked #4 in the latest East Region by the United Soccer Coaches, which was released on Tuesday morning.
Last weekends 1-1 draw at Molloy College in the team's regular season finale has STAC sitting with a 9-3-3 overall record, and a 6-1-2 ECC mark, clinching the 2021 ECC Regular Season title and overall #1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
The Spartans are currently being led by Anthony Bolivar Sanchez (Sr./Forward/Caracas, Venezuela) - 9 goals and 4 Assists for 22 Points, Jorge Umana (Jr./Forward/Orangeburg, N.Y.) - 7 goals and 7 Assists for 21 Points and Cole Allen (Fr./Midfield/Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) - 4 goals and 1 Assist for 9 Points.
In the net, keeper Asier Vegas leads the way for STAC, posting a 8-2-2 record in 12 matches (11 starts), with a 0.98 goals against average and a .786 save percentage.
The team's offense currently averages 2.27 goals per game, while the defense and goaltending gives up an average of 1.14 goals per contest.
St. Thomas Aquinas takes the #1 seed into Wednesday's East Coast Conference Championship Tournament, hosting #4 University of Bridgeport in the semifinals at Spartan Field in Sparkill, with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 pm.
