STAC Men's Soccer Moves to #7 in United Soccer Coaches East Region Poll

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team has been ranked #7 in the East Region by the United Soccer Coaches, which was released on Tuesday afternoon.

Last week's sweep of home contests against Queens College (3-1) and Mercy College (3-2/OT) has STAC sitting with a 6-2-1 overall record, and 3-1 ECC mark.

The Spartans are currently being led by Anthony Bolivar Sanchez (Sr./Forward/Caracas, Venezuela) - 7 goals and 2 Assists for 16 Points, Jorge Umana (Jr./Forward/Orangeburg, N.Y.) - 2 goals and 5 Assists for 9 Points and Cole Allen (Fr./Midfield/Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) - 3 goals and 1 Assist for 7 Points.

In the net, keeper Asier Vegas leads the way for STAC, posting a 5-1-1 record in 6 matches (5 starts), with a 1.20 goals against average and a .794 save percentage.

The team's offense currently averages 2.44 goals per game, while the defense and goaltending gives up an average of 1.40 goals per contest.

STAC next travels to Daemen College on Saturday, October 9. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30pm at Karrier Field in Amherst, NY.
