STAC Ice Hockey Earns Top 25 Ranking In Latest ACHA National Poll

Rolling into the winter holidays, winners of seven of their last ten matchups, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team has earned Top 25 status (#25) in latest American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) National Poll released on Friday. STAC currently holds a 10-6 overall record and a perfect 6-0 MCHC mark through the Fall 2024 Semester schedule.

The maroon and gold are led by sophomore Andrew Fenninger with 17 goals and 26 assists (43 points), freshman Anthony Prunty with 15 goals and 9 assists (24 points) and freshman Jason Desalvo with 11 goals and 23 assists (34 points) over the first 16 games. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the puck, goaltender Michael Pippo has a 6-4 record with a 4.24 goals against average and a .904 save percentage, appearing in ten regular season contests played to date. Teammate Theo Morris has the Spartans four other victories (4-2), while posting a 4.81 goals against average and an .880 save percentage over ten games.

The team's offense scores 5.50 goals per game, while their defense & goaltending lets up an average of 4.56 goals per game.

STAC (10-6, 6-0 MCHC) returns to action on January 25, 2025, facing off with Yeshiva University at Sport-O-Rama Ice Rinks. Puck drop between the Spartans and Maccabees is set for 8:00 p.m. in Rockland County.
