St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball player Starrell Hearns was named the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II/III Player of Week on Tuesday, following a sweep of East Coast Conference contests against Molloy University (83-75) and Queens College (94-85).

Hearns (Carteret, N.J.) averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in two contests last week for STAC. The redshirt junior guard tallied 14 points, grabbed three rebounds, dished out three assists and swiped two steals in 25 minutes in an 83-75 road win against the Lions before recording 29 points, 10 rebounds, an assist, two steals and a block in 33 minutes in a 94-85 home victory versus the Knights. Starrell shot 44.1 percent (15-34) from the field, 53.3 percent (8-15) from beyond the arc and 100.0 percent (5-5) from the charity stripe.

STAC (16-11, 12-3 ECC) closes out regular season play on Saturday, February 28 at Mercy University, with the opening tip set for 2:00 p.m. at the Judge Athletic Center in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
