Amherst, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to a halt, as No. 4 NABC nationally ranked Daemen University took an 82-67 decision on Sunday afternoon at Lumsden Gymnasium.
STAC slips to 14-11 overall and 10-3 in ECC play, while Daemen improves to 26-1 and 14-0.
Starrell Hearns posted a game-high 24 points for the Spartans, while Anthony Daley (13 points) also scored in double figures. For the host Wildcats, Zach Philipkoski led all Wildcats' scorers with 21 points.
St. Thomas Aquinas shot 40.6 percent (26-64) from the field and 87.5 percent (7-8) from the foul line, while Daemen shot 53.0 percent (35-66) from the floor.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Ten Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Derrick James led the maroon and gold with three assists on the afternoon.

- Igor Gonzalez led all Spartans' scorers with five first half points, while shooting 50.0 percent (1-of-2) from the floor, 100.0 percent (1-for-1) from distance and 100.0 percent (2-for-2) from the foul line.
- STAC's best shooting half came in the second stanza, with the Spartans shooting 52.8 percent (19-36) from the field, 50.0 percent (6-12) from beyond the arc and 100.0 percent (4-4) from the free-throw line.
DAEMEN NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

- Daemen picked up eight steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on ten separate occasions.
- The Wildcats earned advantages in four key team statistical categories over St. Thomas Aquinas: Points off Turnovers (15-13), Second Chance Points (10-9), Points in the Paint (56-30) and Fastbreak Points (18-4).
- Daemen had its largest lead of the game (31 points) with just under nine minutes to play in the contest, 73-42, on a Nakyhi Harris three-point jump shot.
- Ryan Heath led all scorers at the half with 11 points for the Wildcats, with Heath shooting 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from the field and 100.0 percent (1-of-1) from beyond the arc.
- Daemen's best shooting half came in the opening stanza, with the Wildcats shooting 60.6 percent (20-33) from the field, 50.0 percent (3-6) from three and 66.7 percent (2-3).
