On the heels of winning its sixth East Coast Conference Tournament Championship in the last seven seasons, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team has been ranked #19 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), in a poll released on Tuesday afternoon
Following STAC's sweep of ECC Tournament contests over Roberts Wesleyan College and Daemen College last weekend to earn its third straight conference title, the Spartans now hold an impressive 26-4 overall record and a 17-1 mark in the conference, as the team prepares for the upcoming NCAA Division II Tourney.
The Spartans are currently being led by Demetre Roberts (Senior/Guard/Mount Vernon, N.Y.) - averaging 16.2 points & 4.2 assists per game, Osbel Caraballo (Senior/Forward/Bolivar, Venezuela) - averaging 14.9 points & 5.7 rebounds per game, Grant Singleton (Senior/Guard/Sumter, S.C.) - averaging 11.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game and Jamal Barnes (Sophomore/Guard/Temple Hills, Md.) - averaging 11.2 points & 3.4 rebounds per game.
The team's offense currently averages 86.0 points scored per game, while their defense surrenders an average of only 71.2 points per game.
STAC heads to Waltham, Massachusetts and Bentley University, the hosts for the 2022 NCAA Division II East Regional, which begins on Saturday, March 12. #7 St. Thomas Aquinas (26-4) will battle #2 Franklin Pierce (18-10) in First Round action, with tip-off set for 2:30pm.
