On Thursday, the Northeast-10 Conference released its Academic All-Conference teams for the 2021 fall season, as the league recognized outstanding student-athletes for their academic and athletic excellence.
St. Thomas Aquinas College's Lauren Cooper, Hailey Galison and Jessie Hohenstein were each honored by the NE10 for their successes both on the field and inside of the classroom for the sport of Women's Field Hockey.
Lauren Cooper (Sr./Wakefield, England) registered a team-leading 11 goals and 23 points in 19 contests during the 2021 season. Her 53 shots taken, 33 of which were on goal, were also tops on the squad this past season. Cooper was also named an NE10 All-Conference Second Team selection. Lauren will graduate from St. Thomas Aquinas College this spring with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.
Hailey Galison (So./Seaford, N.Y.) scored five goals and tallied four assists for 14 points over 19 games for the Spartans this season. Galison is currently a Sports Management major and serves as a broadcast intern for the STAC Athletic Department. She will also suit up as a member of the college's Women's Lacrosse team this Spring.
Jessie Hohenstein (Sr./Stroudsburg, Pa.) posted an 8-11 record with a 1.94 goals against average and a .787 save percentage in 19 starts for St. Thomas Aquinas in 2021. As the primary goalie for the Spartans, Hohenstein also recorded two shutouts and her stellar play helped propel her team to their second NE10 playoff appearance. Jessie will graduate from STAC this spring with a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Education.
The Northeast-10 Conference recognized a total of 90 outstanding student-athletes from seven sports for their academic and athletic excellence.
To be eligible for selection to NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements:
- Started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions as a significant contributor.
- Achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) or better on a 4.0 scale.
Each NE10 institution, as well as two associate members of the Conference, had at least one student-athlete named to the Academic All-Conference teams from this past fall – which was the first complete fall sports season for the league since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
