SPARKILL, N.Y. - Following updated guidance with regards to spectators at collegiate sporting events, as announced by New York State, and with the approval of the St. Thomas Aquinas College COVID Task Force, the STAC Athletic Department is pleased to begin offering limited seating at our outdoor sporting events, effective April 28 and for the remainder of the spring season. The updated policy will primarily pertain to teams with home contests scheduled over the next several weeks, including baseball, softball, women's lacrosse and men's and women's tennis.
Maximum spectator occupancy levels at facilities are set based on the ability for fans to safely social distance, and are as follows:
Palisades Credit Union Park - Pomona, NY (Baseball): Up To 200 Spectators Max
Spartan Field - Sparkill, NY (Softball): Up To 50 Spectators Max Along Outfield Fence ONLY. Additional Spectators May Sit Outside Facility Along Fence Line.
Spartan Field - Sparkill, NY (Women's Lacrosse): No Spectators Permitted Inside Field Due Non-COVID Safety Concerns. Fans May Sit Outside Facility Along Fence Line.
Riley Family Tennis Courts - Sparkill, NY (Men's & Women's Tennis): Up To 20 Spectators Max. Bleachers are Reserved for Team Personnel ONLY.
Parking Lots and Rest Rooms will also now be available at all STAC facilities.
Attendance at St. Thomas Aquinas College sporting events is contingent upon strict adherence to the following guidelines:
- Masks must be worn at all times in all STAC facilities
- No Bleacher Seating will be available at outdoor events
- Social Distancing must be maintained outside of family units
- No tailgating or social gatherings of any kind before or after each game
- Face-to-face contact between spectators and team personnel is strictly prohibited
- Spectators should exit the venue promptly at the conclusion of the contest
Failure to adhere to the above guidelines may result in ejection from the sporting event and a review of future attendance eligibility. It is imperative for spectators to comply with these procedures in order to preserve the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and other team personnel.
This policy, which goes into effect April 28, is subject to change based on the spread of COVID-19 within the community, as well as changing guidelines from local, state and federal governments.
It's important to note that this policy pertains only to games hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas College. Spectator attendance at STAC road games is based upon the determination of the hosting institution.
