Kim Lusk Resigns as Head Women's Basketball Coach

St. Thomas Aquinas College officially announced that head women’s basketball coach Kim Lusk has stepped down to pursue other career opportunities after 13 seasons with the Spartans.  "I want to express my sincere appreciation to Kim for her commitment to our women's basketball program over the past thirteen years," said Director of Athletics Nicole Ryan. "Under her leadership, women's basketball has soared to new heights as a top program in the region.  Her dedication to academic success, personal growth and the community involvement of her student-athletes has been clearly evident throughout her tenure.  I wish Kim and her family the best of luck in the future."

"I will forever be grateful and honored to have had the opportunity to coach the women in this program over the past 13 years.  I have been blessed to work with and alongside many great people and they have all impacted my life in a special way,” commented Lusk. 

During Lusk’s tenure the Spartans made back to back NCAA appearances in 2018 and 2019, won three regular season titles (2020, 2019, 2011) and a conference championship in 2018.  Lusk has won 216  games at the helm of the Spartans and guided her team to the post season in 12 out of her 13 years. 

Under Lusk, the Spartans had two Met Writers Player of the Year winners; Ruth Adams and Jenna Ericson, three ECC Players of the Year winners; Briana Sloper, Jenna Erickson and Ruth Adams, and three Defensive Player of the Year winners; Ruth Adams, Adiya Henderson and Bianca Kowgios.  Coach Lusk also coached a number of ECC conference players over her 13 year span at STAC.

Coach Lusk was named the Met Writer’s Division II Coach of the Year in 2019, 2018, 2011, the BCANY Women’s Division II Coach of the Year in 2018 and the East Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 2020, 2019, 2011. 

Lusk and her family will be relocating out of state as both her and her husband take on new career opportunities.  Lusk was recently named the Athletic Director at Lincoln Charter School in Denver, NC.  "It was a tough decision to step away from coaching but this is a family move and something that I feel overall will benefit all of us."
