Derrick James, Kyran Versteegen, Toni Schuetze and Victoria Maher were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for January.

Victoria Maher (So.|Throws|Marlboro, N.Y.) opened the new year with three top-10 finishes in the weight throw event, placing third at both the STAC Spartan Invitational (14.47m/47'5.75") and the Wagner College Invitational (15.91m/52'2.5"). She then followed with a thirteenth place finish (15.69m/51'5.75") at the Dr. Sander Scorcher and rounded out the month by setting a new program record while finishing seventh at Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic with a toss of (16.06m/52'8.25").
