Nicholas Martello and George Yusuff were named the Spartan Athletes of the Month for September.
Nicholas Martello, Men's Cross Country:
Martello helped guide his team to two top ten finishes in races during the first month of the season. A 36th overall finish (28:15.1) at the Fordham University Fiasco, helped guide him and his teammates to a second place team finish.
The freshman from Staten Island, NY posted a time of 25:52.9, which was good for a 18th overall finish in New York Institute of Technology Invitational. The team took home a first place finish with Nicholas's help.
Martello was named the ECC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week on both September 11th and September 18th.
George Yusuff, Men's Soccer:
Yusuff recorded 2 goals and 1 assist during the month of September. His ability to find his way to the net has certainly paid off, and was especially the case when he registered 2 goals and 1 assist, for five points, against Daemen College on September 16th.
George, a freshman from Great Yarmouth, England, registered 11 shots over the 7 games he participated in during this time period.
As a result of his stellar play, Yusuff was named the ECC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week on September 18th.
