St. Thomas Aquinas Women's Basketball player Jenna Erickson and Men's Basketball player Justin Reyes were named the East Coast Conference Players of the Week on Monday following the Spartans weekend opening tournaments at Aquinas Hall.
Erickson averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game in the Spartans' home victories over Bloomfield College and Dominican College in the ECC/CACC Challenge Tournament. Jenna had 19 points to go with her ten assists and six rebounds against Bloomfield on Friday. The senior guard then recorded 16 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists against Dominican on Saturday. On the weekend, Erickson shot 50.0 percent (11-for-22) from the field, 28.5 percent (4-for-14) from the three-point line and 90.0 percent (9-for-10) from the free throw line.
The 2-0 Lady Spartans return to action on Wednesday, November 15th for a 5:30pm Aquinas Hall matchup against University of New Haven, before traveling just down the road on Friday, November 17th for a 7pm contest versus Nyack College.
Meanwhile, on the men's side of the ledger, Reyes averaged 21.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in the Spartans' home wins over University of New Haven and Saint Michael's College in the ECC/NE-10 Challenge Tournament. Justin had 25 points to go with his ten rebounds against New Haven on Saturday. The senior forward then recorded his third double-double in four games with 17 points and 17 rebounds against Saint Michael's on Sunday. On the weekend, Reyes shot 51.7 percent (15-for-29) from the field and 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from the free throw line.
The 2-2 Spartans return to action on Wednesday, November 15th for a 7:30pm Aquinas Hall matchup against Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia University), before hitting the road on Saturday, November 18th for 7pm contest versus Goldey-Beacom College.
