Spartan Track & Field Competes At SCSU Elm City Challenge
This past Friday and Saturday the St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team competed at the Elm City Classic against some of the top teams in the East Region.  Starting with Friday's action, Dante Brown opened up the Elm City Classic by winning the 55 meter dash in a time of 6.48.  Brown then came back after the 55 meter win to take the long jump in a leap of 7.07m (23'2.5). In the Men's Shot Put, Rickssen Opont took second place in the with a throw of 16.00m (52'6).  Stephane Fortune took 3rd place in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.22.  St. Jacob Diodonet hit a new personal best in the 800 in a time of 1:59.42.  Joe Lipari also took a second place finish in the mile with a time of 4:45.98.  Freshman, Kevin Bouyea took 4th place in the 800 with a time of 2:01.79.
 
On the Women's Side, Rachel Spagnola took 2nd place in her debut in the 800 with a time of 2:26.03, with Christina Maretzo finishing in 4th place in a time of  2:27.60.  Rebecca MacLeod won the mile in a time of 5:26.63 and anchored the 4x800 team of Maretzo, Spagnola, Amber Lubaszka to a win in a time of 10:14.84.  Laura Herbes won the Women's 3k in a time of 11:20.06, followed by Abagail Kimbrell in a time of 11:26.07. Freshman, Dunya Alan took 5th place in the long jump with a leap of 4.82m (15'9.75) and 5th place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.75m (35'3.25).
 
The Spartans return to action at the Wagner College Shootout on January 4th at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY.
