The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women’s Softball team’s 2019 schedule will feature 48 games including a challenging 12-game, 10-day swing in Florida and matchups against top teams from seven different states.
Head Coach Kristen Sullivan will lead the Lady Spartans into the 2019 season riding the momentum of one of the best fall seasons in recent memory. STAC logged an impressive 9-2 record highlighted by a victory over highly regarding Fordham University, one of the premier collegiate programs in the Northeast. The regular-season schedule includes teams from as far away as Ohio and West Virginia.
“I’ve challenged the team again with a very formidable schedule and I am confident that the players will respond,” said Sullivan. “This is a very experienced team with solid pitching and defense. We will be very competitive.”
STAC opens the season by visiting University of New Haven for a doubleheader on March 1 before embarking on its annual road trip to Florida. This year’s 12-game slate in Clermont, Fla., includes games against highly regarded Merrimack University, Bentley University and Le Moyne College.
“The Florida trip is always very exciting for our players,” said Sullivan. “We see many different styles of play from across the country. This trip has also allowed my previous teams to build chemistry while the coaching staff uses the entire roster to navigate so many games in such a short period of time.”
The Lady Spartans will again compete in the East Coast Conference, one of the most respected circuits in NCAA Div. II softball. Perennial powers LIU Post and Molloy College figure to field strong teams again in 2019.
