Women's Cross Country Moves to 5th in East Region

In the Week 2 USTFCCCA East Regional Poll, the women's cross country team has moved up two spots after a strong appearance at the NYIT Invitational.  After not competing in the 2016 cross country season, Kristen Borriello returned to the course as the first Spartan finisher.  Borriello's 19:30 put her in 2nd place overall.  Sophomore Aida Torpey continued to drop her times as she covered the 5K course in 19:42.  Classmate Rebecca MacLeod continued to show improvement with a collegiate best of 20:03.  In 6th place, freshman Abagaile Kimbrell finished at 20:22, which was nearly 30 seconds faster than her debut race.  Senior Kara Santa Teresa was next for the Spartans, clocking a time of 21:10.  Freshman Mary Dristle and sophomore Grace Carter finished in 22:48 and 23:27 respectively.  The team will not compete in the region next week.  Instead they will host their alumni at the 2017 Spartan Alumni Run.
