Lady Spartans Top Purple Knights, 16-1
The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Bridgeport, 16-1. Alannah McCalister scored 4 goals and had 1 assists for STAC. Anne Buttafuoco and Stephanie Brown each scored 3 goals and added 1 assist. Jenaette Gibson had 8 saves for the Lady Spartans.
The Lady Spartans got out to a quick start scoring four goals in the opening five minutes of action, each by a different person. STAC had seven players score as Johanna Mitchell and Sara Schmidt each scored 2 goals, while Liz Gronwoldt and Becky Torres each added 1.
STAC dominated most of the action and held Bridgeport to 9 shots on goal. Gibson had a strong performance in goal giving up a single goal with a little over a minute to go in the game.
The St. Thomas Aquinas athletic department honored its three seniors; Jeanette Gibson, Kim Pinzon and Sarah Rusciano, prior to the game. The Lady Spartans will travel to C.W. Post on Wednesday before hosting their final game against Molloy College next Saturday at Torne Valley.
