With over 1,500 athletes competing from 55 total teams the Spartans hosted its 3rd Spartan Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Track Facility in Staten Island, NY. Competitors from all three NCAA divisions were in attendance geographically ranging from states such as California, North Carolina and the northeast.

Junior Saint Jacob Diodonet, after taking last week off, won the 400 meters for the 3rd straight year in a time of 48.95. Diodonet also finished 4th in the 200 meters with a time of 21.99. Dante Brown also had very strong meet taking 5th overall in the 60 meters in a time of 7.06, 7th in the 200 in a time of 22.26 and 3rd overall in the Long Jump. Sophomore Robert Guidicipietro took 3rd in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.88. The DMR Team of Aiden Russell, Dylan Bestler, Ian Murtile and Guidicipietro ran a new season best in the event with a time of 10:38.78 taking 3rd place. In the Shot Put, Rickssen Opont has been continuing his great season with a second place finish with a throw of 15.81m.
For the women's team, sophomore Camille Cameron finished in 4th place in the 200 meters in a time of 25.74 and then took 8th place in the 400 with a time 60.14. Sophomore Aida Torpey had a great performance in her first mile of the season when she ran 5:24.77. Rookie Christina Maretzo ran a great race in the 500 where she ran a time of 1:24.90 in her collegiate debut. The Women's DMR team of Maretzo, Amber Lubaszka, Rebecca MacLeod, and Torpey ran a season best of 13:17.29 taking 4th place.
The Spartans & Lady Spartans next compete at the Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze next friday.
