St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Track & Field standout St. Jacob Diodonet has qualified to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships, which will be held at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg Kansas on March 9th & 10th.
Diodonet, the junior sprinter from West Milford, NJ, will be the first-ever Spartan to compete in multiple events during the same championship. Saint will take to the track in both the 200 meter and 400 meter dashes, where his currently nationally ranked 13th and 18th respectively.
However, this is not unfamiliar territory for Diodonet, as this will be his third consecutive appearance at the Division II Indoor National Championships. In 2016 as a freshman, St. Jacob finished 13th in the 400 meter dash, and followed that up with a 12th place finish in the 400 as a sophomore, just a one year ago.
In addition to the announcement of his national championship qualification today, Saint was selected earlier in the week by the USTFCCCA with All-East Region honors in the 60 meter (ranked 1st), 200 meter (ranked 1st) and 400 meter dashes (ranked 3rd), and helped lead the Spartan Men's Track & Field team to their first East Coast Conference Indoor Championship by scoring 30 points in individual events and anchored the winning 4x400 relay team.
