St. Thomas Aquinas College's St. Jacob Diodonet and Dante Brown were named the East Coast Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week respectively on Monday, after the Spartans competed in the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout this past Friday.
On the track, Diodonet took a first place finish in the 1,600 Meter Sprint Medley (3:31.09) and a third place finish in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 7.10. The junior sprinter from West Milford, NJ also competed at the Yale University Season Opener on Saturday where he finished first in the 400 Meter Dash, coming in clocked at 49.52.
In the field events, Brown finished first in the Long Jump (7.03 meters), breaking both personal and team records. The freshman sprinter/jumper from Nyack, NY was also a part of the winning 1,600 Meter Sprint Medley team and finished second to his teammate St. Jacob in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 7.06.
The Spartans will break for final exams and the winter holidays, before next competing on Friday, January 5th at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY when Wagner College hosts their annual invitational.
