Spartan Records Broken at Dr. Sander Invitational

The St. Thomas Aquinas Track & Field team competed at the Dr. Sander Invitational at the Armory in NYC this weekend. Three athletes broke school records with their performances.  Sophomore Aida Torpey broke the school record in the 5k with a time of 18:41.48.  The record was formerly held by current Track & Field assistant coach Kaitlyn O'Grady.  Freshman Rachel Spagnola broke the school record int he Pentathalon by scoring 2561.  Sophomore Robert Guidicipietro broke the mile record, held by former Assistant coach Einar Brissing, with his time of 4:21.28.  St. Jacob Diodonet took a 2nd place finish in the 200 and 3rd among all collegiate athletes with a time of 49.47.  Dante Brown finished 5th overall in the 60.

The team will return to action in two weeks at the Fast Times Track Meet.
