Spartan Men's Track Finishes 8th In Final Regional Poll, Men's & Women's Teams Garner Conference, Regional Honors

As the 2017 Outdoor Track Season wrapped up last week, the final USTFCCCA Regional Poll was released, and the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Team finished their season 8th within the East Region.

With that said, several Spartans were also named to the All-Region Team for there efforts of being Top 5 in their individual events.  Winslow Dorsainvil was named to his 4th All-Region team for his work in the 100 meters.  St. Jacob Diodonet was named All-Region in the 200 and 400 for his second consecutive outdoor season.  Rickssen Opont received his first nomination to the All-Region team in the shot put.

The Lady Spartans had a great season of their own this year, finishing 12th in the regional standings and having Victoria Jones-Alleyne get named to the All-Region team in the 100 meter hurdles and the long jump.

In addition, St. Jacob Diodonet was named both the East Coast Conference Male Outdoor Track Athlete of the year and Athlete of the meet for the conference championship.  Victoria Jones Alleyne was also named the Female Outdoor Track Athlete of the meet, and is the first women's recipient of this award from St. Thomas Aquinas College.  Coach Lorne Marcus took home the ECC Coach of the Year for the 2017 Men's Outdoor Track & Field season.  

This brings to a close a very successful year that saw the men's team ranked number one in the region for 4 weeks in the polls, as well being ranked nationally for the indoor season in the Top 25 for 5 weeks.
