Spartan Runners Thrive at Metro Invitational
The St. Thomas Aquinas Track & Field team had a phenomenal day on Friday at the Metro Invitational at the Armory in NYC. Sophomore George Erazo provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Nationals in the 400 with a time of 48.83. This is a new college personal best for Erazo who finished 3rd overall in the contest and 1st among all collegiate competitors.
Erazo was joined by classmate Mike Galonski who also ran a new best. Galonski finished the 3000 with a time of 9:12.82 which was good for a 12th place finish. Mike Kraus finished 13th overall in the 800 clocking in at 2:03.46.
On the women's side, sophomore Keeley Bateman, sophomore set a personal best in the 1000 with a time of 3:04.91 which had her finishing in 4th overall and 1st among all collegiate competitors. Freshman Catherine Sandkuhl finished 3rd overall in the 800 in a time of 2:28.07.
The Spartans next competition will be at the Gotham Cup at the Armory on January 13th.
