The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat NYIT 9-8 and 2-0.  Sharis Ruiz went 4-for-7 with 2 runs and an RBI while Joy Ferriello went 4-for-8 with a run and a RBI.  Maura Power pitched a shutout in game two giving up a single hit. 

In game one, ToniAnn Groth hit an RBI double to score Kayla Cornish for the game winning run.  Cornish was pinch running for Ferriello who led off the inning with a double.  STAC scored in 6 out of the 7 innings starting with a RBI single from Ferriello in the first inning to score Ruiz.  Devin Meikle highlighted the 4th inning with a 2 RBI double.  Meikle was 2-for-4 with a run and 2 RBI.  Megan Sweezy earned the win for STAC.

Power dominated the second game yeilding one hit in the first inning and striking out 5 batters fir the game.  Sweezy hit a homerun in the 3rd inning to give STAC a 1-0 lead.  Ruiz scored off an RBI single from Heather Clausen to give STAC a 2-0 advantage in the 5th inning. 

The Lady Spartans will face Mercy College on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
