  • Samantha McDonald Named ECC Rookie of the Year

    St. Thomas Aquinas softball player, Samantha McDonald was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year and first team all conference as voted on by the leagues coaches. McDonald lead the Lady Spartans with a batting average of .416 off 52 hits in her rookie campaine.

    Lady Spartan Softball player, Samantha McDonald, was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week. She was 14-for-21 for the week , batting .667 and guiding STAC to a 3-3 week. The rookie scored six runs, had three RBI and five doubles for the week.
  • Lady Spartans End Season with Split Against Bears on Senior Day

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team split with the visiting Bears from NYIT, with a 6-2 loss in game one and a 3-2 win in game two. Colleen Pagnani's RBI single in the 7th scored senior Devin Meikle who led off with a single setting up the win for the Lady Spartans. Samantha McDonald was 5-for-8 for the day.
  • Lady Spartans Take Two From Purple Knights on Pink Day

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat the University of Bridgeport, 10-2 and 7-3 this afternoon. Samantha McDonald went 3-for-3 including a 2-run homerun in game one. McDonald went 5-for-6 for the day. Katie Meyers went 2-for-3 including 2 run homerun of her own in game two.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team dropped two to Dowling College, 6-0 and 6-3. Samantha McDonald went 4-for-7 for the day with two doubles and one RBI. Colleen Pagnani and Shelby Coyle each added an RBI.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Philadelphia University, 3-0 and 8-0 on Sunday. STAC had 4 hits in each game leaving all runners stranded. Katie Meyers went 3-for-5 for the day. Samantha McDonald and Megan Sweezy each had one hit in each game.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Molloy College on Thursday afternoon, 10-2 and 8-2. ToniAnn Groth and Kim Nowak each hit home runs. Sam McDonald went 3-for-7 for the day.
  • Knights Top Lady Spartans, 3-0 & 3-1

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team fell to Queens College, 3-0 and 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon. Toni Ann Groth had a RBI double in the 7th inning of game two to scored STAC only run of the day. STAC struggled in the opening game getting just one hit from Sam McDonald.
  • Lady Spartans Top Pioneers, 5-0

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team split with LIU Post on Monday afternoon at home. STAC dropped game one, 7-4 before defeating the guest, 5-0 in game two. ToniAnn Groth hit a solo home run to start the Lady Spartans off with a 1-0 lead that held up until STAC added four more runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure the win.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Mercy College, 15-0 & 4-2 on Thursday afternoon. Samantha McDonald went 4-for-5 and scored a run in game two. Shelby Coyle, Jamie McCormick and ToniAnn Groth all went 2-for-3 for the day.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to NYIT, 4-0 and 6-5 on Tuesday afternoon. The Bears came back in the 7th inning of game two to earn the win over STAC. Megan Sweezy was 3-for-7 for the day and Shelby Coyle hit a 2-run home run in game two.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team picked up a pair of losses at LIU Post. Samantha McDonald's RBI single scored the Lady Spartans only run for the day, in the 9-1 loss. STAC lost 8-0 in game two, with Shelby Coyle having the only hit for the Lady Spartans.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Queens College, 1-0 and 11-2, in their new home field debut. Freshmen Samantha McDonald went 4-for-7 for the day and score a run in game two. Megan Sweezy also scored a run in game two and Alisa Cipolla had an RBI.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas Softball team dropped its ECC opening series at Mercy College 8-7 and 8-0. Samantha McDonald had 4 hits, 2 RBI a run scored and a stolen base for the Lady Spartans while Katie Meyers went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles 1 RBI and 1 run scored.
  • Lady Spartans Fall to Minot St. & St. Joseph's

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost their final two games in FL. dropping 5-1 to both Minot St. and St. Joseph's College. In the first game, Melisa Place was 1-for-2 including a single that scored STAC's only run. STAC finishes out the week in FL. 3-5.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat AIC, 10-4 and St. Michael's 4-2 in their 5th and 6th games played while in Clermont, FL. Toni Ann Groth hit a grand slam in the 3rd and was 2-for-2 for the day. Laura Navarro went 4-for-4 in the second game. Megan Sweezy and Maura Power each earned wins on the mound for STAC and Kim Nowak earned her first save.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 come from behind victory over Winona State. Freshmen Samantha McDonald went 2-for-4 and scored 2 runs for STAC.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team opening the 2013 season on Friday in Clermont, FL. STAC dropped their first game, 3-1, against Findlay before falling 5-0 to Alderson-Broaddus. Maura Power and Megan Sweezey each took the loss on the mound.
