Heather ClausenSpartans Drop Doubleheader at Bloomfield
The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team dropped both of their games 2-1 and 6-2 to Bloomfield College. In the first game freshman Heather Clausen hit a RBI single to score Michelle Sasso. In game two Danielle Hart hit a two run home run in the seventh but it was not enough to cut into Bloomfield's six run lead.
Game One Recap: STAC 1 Bloomfield 2
The Spartans played a tough defensive game but fell short as Bloomfield scored two runs in the sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Pitcher Stephanie Sfraga picked up the loss for the Lady Spartans striking out four batters.
Game Two Recap: STAC 2 Bloomfield 6
Angela Squilini led off the seventh with a single and scored off Hart's homerun to put STAC on the board. Hart went 2-for-3 while Squilini was 1-for-3. Amanda Forsythe struck out two in the loss.
The Lady Spartans will be back in action on Saturday as they host Adelphi University for a double header. Saturday's game will represent STAC pink zone day and all fans are encourage to wear pink to show their support in efforts to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.
