STAC Golfers Finish 2nd At Goldey Beacom Invitational
The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's golf team started their season with a solid showing at the first annual Goldey-Beacom Fall Classic. The Spartans came out of the gate firing, shooting a day 1 score of 298 behind the masterful play of freshman Nick Zolotas ( 72 ). Junior Pat Schwarze and freshman Chris Fitzpatrick posted solid scores of 74 and 75 respectfully, with senior Jordan Perretz rounding out the scoring with a 77.
Day 2 proved more challenging on a difficult course with stiff winds, as the Spartans posted a final round 313 and 2-day total of 611 good for second behind Wilmington College. Nick Zolotas finished with a 2-day total of 149, good for second place. Chris Fitzpatrick and Pat Schwarze both finished with a 2-day total of 153, leaving them tied for 9th place and Jordan Perretz rounded out the scoring a with a final score of 156.
The Spartans look to improve on their second place finish at Long Island National Golf Course in Riverhead, NY this weekend, a course they have dominated in the past with 3 straight tournament victories.
